Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user-agent to help with spam detection.
An anonymized hash of your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you use it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture (if any) becomes visible to the public alongside your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, please avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the site may be able to download and extract location information from uploaded images.
Cookies
If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email, and website in cookies. These exist purely for convenience, saving you from retyping details for future comments. These cookies last one year.
If you visit the login page, we set a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and disappears when you close your browser.
When you log in, we set several cookies to store your login information and display preferences. Login cookies last two days; screen-options cookies last a year. Selecting “Remember Me” keeps your login active for two weeks. Logging out removes login cookies.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie with no personal data will be set. It contains only the post ID of the article you edited and expires after one day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content behaves exactly as if you visited the external site directly. Those external sites may collect data, use cookies, employ third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction, especially if you are logged in to their services.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, both the comment and its metadata are stored indefinitely. This helps the system recognize and automatically approve follow-up comments instead of holding them for moderation.
For users who register on this site (if any), we store the personal information provided in their user profile. All users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except username changes). Website administrators can also view and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you may request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. You may also request that we erase any personal data we hold. This does not include data we must keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Links to external sites
This site may include links to real, non-fictional products or services—such as Skeleton Brew coffee or other creative projects. These external websites operate independently and have their own privacy policies. If you follow a link to another website, your data will be handled according to that site’s policy, not ours. We encourage you to review the privacy practices of any external site you visit.
